Click the Advanced button on a form element to open the Advanced dialog box. The Advanced dialog box consists of several tabs that control a different type of advanced formatting. Depending on the form element type, some tabs might be disabled.
Note
When you preview a form, the preview does not show the advanced formatting you have added.
From the Parent tab you can make a form element's visibility dependent on the visibility of another form element. That is, an element is hidden when its parent form element is hidden, and is displayed when its parent form element is displayed. You can assign a parent to an element of any type.
Expand the Parent drop-down list and select the form element that is the parent of your current element.
Select the Event tab to make the visibility of other elements dependent on the response to the current form element. You can assign events to any type of element except for a label. Labels do not support events because drivers do not respond directly to label elements.
When you select the Event tab all currently defined events for the form element are listed in the dialog box. The first time you select the Event tab, there are no events listed because you have not yet defined any events. Click Add Event to add an event to the list. Then use the following three fields to specify what happens:
-
Expand the first drop-down list and select the response that causes something to happen.
-
Expand the second drop-down list and select what happens (another element is shown or hidden). When this field is completed, the third field is displayed.
-
Expand the third drop-down list and select the element that is shown or hidden when the specified response is given.
Click Delete to remove an event.
Select the Validation tab to provide conditions for validating a driver's response in a Text Box element. Drivers can only submit forms if their responses pass validation.
The Validation tab has two fields:
-
TheValidation field. From the drop-down list, select an option that indicates the type of response a driver can enter.
-
The Max Characters field. Enter a value that indicates the maximum length of the response the driver can enter.
The Clear Before Edit tab is displayed exclusively for DVIR Third Signature forms. The tab is enabled only for Signature form elements.
The Clear Before Edit tab has the Always clear the content before the form is opened for editing check box. Select this check box if you want the signature to be cleared when the driver opens the form. This ensures that the driver signs the form every time, instead of reusing the existing signature saved in the previous version of the form
Select the Prepopulate tab to set up the Text Box or Location form fields to pre-populate when the driver opens the form.
The Prepopulate tab for a Text Box element has two fields:
-
The Data Source field. From the drop-down list, select a table you want the form field to get the value from.
-
The Data Source Field field. From the drop-down list, select the column you want the form field to get the value from.
The Prepopulate tab for a Location element has the Populate this location element when the form is opened check box. Select the check box to enable pre-population of this form field.
Click Delete to clear the fields.
See Pre-Population Form Templates for more information on pre-populating forms.
Select the Typeahead Search tab to configure auto-completing driver forms. Drivers can enter the initial characters of an entry into a form field, and any matching items found in a database that contain these characters are returned in a selectable list. The formatting of search results can be customized as required, and selected results can be used to automatically populate other form elements.
The Typeahead Search tab has two fields:
-
The Data Source field. From the drop-down list select the name of the table that contains columns you want the form to search in.
-
The Data Source Field field. From the drop-down list select the column that contains the information that will be searched for, used to automatically complete form fields, or used to match information from other columns. See the Typeahead Search Form Templates section for configuration details explaining the Search Fields, Display Results, and Auto-populate Fields areas that are displayed.
Click Delete to clear the fields.
Select the Fault Severity tab to configure the fault severity for this form element. This setting is useful for DVIR Third Signature forms. You can select one of the following options for each form element that has the type "DVIR Control":
-
Critical: Fail DVIR if a fault is found. - If you select this option, the corresponding DVIR control has a fault severity of "Critical". If this inspection item fails in one of your driver's inspection reports, the DVIR fails for the selected vehicle. The vehicle shows in red in the driver's vehicle selection list and a warning displays if the driver selects the vehicle. The vehicle is considered unsafe and unusable until a mechanic has corrected the fault.
-
Non-critical: Pass DVIR even if a fault is found. - If you select this option, the corresponding DVIR control has a fault severity of "Non-critical". If this inspection item fails in one of your driver's inspection reports, the DVIR does not fail for the selected vehicle. The vehicle continues to display in the driver's vehicle selection list and the driver can select the vehicle. The DVIR might still fail because of a critical failure within the same inspection report.
-
Allow driver to determine fault severity. - If you select this option, the corresponding DVIR control does not have a fault severity set. The driver can determine the severity, when filling out the inspection form.
