This article describes how to add subscriptions for OEM (original equipment manufacturer) vehicles, such as Ford, GM, and Volvo vehicles, to your account so that you can track information about them in Fleet. If you want to add subscriptions for AEMP (association of equipment management professionals) assets, see Adding AEMP Assets to Your Account.
Vehicles can be tracked by installing aftermarket hardware, or by connecting to the built-in telematics hardware installed by the OEM. The Connect Vehicles screen allows you to purchase additional subscriptions for a vehicle that has built-in telematics hardware (and is one of the Verizon Connect integrated OEM partners). This screen should be used only when you need to add additional subscriptions. As part of this process you accept the contract and payment terms and then, once complete, your subscription increases by the number of valid VINs you have entered.
This process can be used only for OEM vehicles. If you require support with aftermarket hardware, contact your Verizon Connect sales rep or our support team.
You can add individual vehicles or import a list of vehicles.
Note
If you entered a VIN belonging to a GM vehicle, you need to enter your GM FAN code so that the order can be processed. See GM Overview to learn more about GM OEM vehicles.
To add a single new OEM vehicle:
-
On the My Account screen > Overview tab, click the Connect Vehicles tab, or click the Connect Vehicles button on the right of the screen.
-
The Connect OEM Vehicles screen opens. Click Add Vehicle.
-
In the Vehicle Details dialog box, type the 17-character VIN (vehicle identification numbers) of the vehicle you want to add to your account. Optionally, add a unique vehicle name. If you leave this blank, a name is automatically generated using the format "Veh [VIN]" (for example, "Veh 123ABC456DEF789GH"). Then, click Save.
-
The Connect OEM Vehicles screen displays the details of the OEM vehicle you just added, including its name, VIN, model, connection, services, and price (if applicable). For more information see Viewing, editing, or deleting OEM vehicles. Add additional vehicles if required.
-
Make sure that the list of vehicles is correct. Then, click Continue.
-
On the Confirmation screen, make sure that the list of OEM vehicles is correct. You can go back if necessary. Read the confirmation message and select the check box if you agree with the terms and conditions. Then, click Check Out.
To import a list of new OEM vehicles:
-
On the My Account screen > Overview tab, click the Connect Vehicles tab, or click the Connect Vehicles button on the right of the screen.
-
The Connect OEM Vehicles screen opens. Click Import Vehicles.
-
In the Import Vehicles dialog box, you can enter the list of OEM vehicles manually or by uploading a file.
-
To enter the list manually, enter each 17-character VIN on a new line. If you add a vehicle name, separate the VIN and name with a comma, and make sure the name is unique. If you don’t add a name, it will be automatically generated using the format "Veh [VIN]" (for example, "Veh 123ABC456DEF789GH").
-
To upload a file, drag and drop it into the blue area, or click upload a file to browse to the file on your computer. Supported file types are csv, txt, and xls.
-
-
When your list is complete, click Import.
-
The Connect OEM Vehicles screen displays the details of the OEM vehicles you just added, including their name, VIN, model, connection, services, and price. For more information see Viewing, editing, or deleting OEM vehicles.
-
On the Confirmation screen, make sure that the list of OEM vehicles is correct. You can go back if necessary. Read the confirmation message and select the check box if you agree with the terms and conditions. Then, click Check Out.
-
A success message is shown from where you can link to the Orders tab or add further OEM vehicles.
While you are adding OEM vehicles, either individually or as part of an import list, you can view the details of the OEM vehicles on the Connect OEM Vehicles tab.
To edit the vehicle name or VIN, click on the vehicle name. To remove the vehicle from the list, click the Delete icon at the end of the row.
Note
If you edit a vehicle's VIN number and it no longer matches the system VIN previously received from the connected vehicle, a pop-up alert is shown. This pop-up alert contains a "Restore" button to revert the VIN to the previously stored number if your change was made in error.
