This article describes how to:
AEMP assets are heavy equipment assets that follow the AEMP (association of equipment management professionals) connectivity standard. Currently, the process for adding AEMP assets is different depending on whether you are adding AEMP assets from John Deere and Caterpillar, or from another provider.
To add John Deere and Caterpillar AEMP 2.0 assets, you need to add an AEMP account for John Deere or Caterpillar on the AEMP Accounts tab of the My Accounts screen. This creates a connection between Fleet and your John Deere or Caterpillar account. All assets that are listed in your John Deere or Caterpillar account are loaded into Fleet. You can choose which of these assets you want to connect to Fleet and see all connected assets. All connected assets can then be tracked from Fleet. You can add more than one AEMP account from the same or a different provider into Fleet. These accounts are then listed in the AEMP Accounts tab under My Account.
To add a new AEMP account for John Deere so that you can track your John Deere assets in Fleet:
-
On the My Accounts screen, click the AEMP Accounts tab.
-
Click Set Up Account.
-
Under Provider, select “John Deere”.
-
Enter a name for the account. This is used on the AEMP Accounts screen and throughout Fleet to identify this John Deere account.
-
Optionally, enter a tag, which identifies assets associated with the AEMP account in other areas of Fleet.
-
Click Connect on the AEMP Accounts screen and again in the dialog box.
-
The John Deere Partner Portal opens in a new window. Sign in to your John Deere account and authorize Fleet to access your John Deere data. If you don’t have permission to grant access, ask your administrator to enable your permission for sharing data from your John Deere account to Fleet. See the John Deere help for more information.
-
Close the John Deere account and return to Fleet. You can now connect the AEMP assets in this John Deere account to Fleet.
-
On the My Accounts screen, click the AEMP Accounts tab.
-
Click Set Up Account.
-
Under Provider, select “Caterpillar”.
-
Enter a Name for the account. This is used on the AEMP Accounts screen and throughout Fleet to identify this Caterpillar MyCat account.
-
Enter the Client ID and Secret from your MyCat account.
-
Optionally, enter a Tag, which identifies assets associated with the AEMP account in other areas of Fleet.
-
Click Connect on the AEMP Accounts screen and in the dialog box.
After you have set up an AEMP 2.0 account on the AEMP Accounts tab of the My Accounts screen, you can choose which AEMP assets to connect to Fleet so that you can track them:
-
On the My Accounts screen, click the AEMP Accounts tab.
-
Click on a John Deere or Caterpillar account in this list.
If the account tile shows an exclamation mark, you might need to reauthenticate the account or, if the problem persists, contact support.
-
To connect all AEMP assets in the Asset List, select the check box in the upper left corner of the list, and then click Connect All. To connect only certain AEMP assets, select the check boxes next to individual assets, and then click Connect Selected. The Status column shows whether an asset is already connected (Active) or not.
You can use the filter to narrow down the list of assets to those with a specific status, or you can use the search to narrow down the list of assets to those that contain the set of characters you have entered in their serial number, make, or model fields. When you have used the filter or search to narrow down the list of assets, click Connect Listed to connect all assets that are shown in the list. If any assets in the list are selected, the button shows Connect Selected.
The Status column shows whether an asset is already connected (Active) or not. Active assets are ignored if selected or included in the list, and they are not connected again.
Status values that might be shown under the Status column are:
Status
Description
Active
The asset is currently connected and live in the customer's Fleet account.
Not Connected
The asset is available to be added to the customer's Fleet account.
Pending
The unit is currently being processed as part of an order.
Unknown
Unable to verify the current status of the asset.
To connect a new AEMP (association of equipment management professionals) asset from an AEMP 1.0 provider, such as Komatsu and Volvo:
-
On the My Account screen, click the Connect Vehicles tab, or click the Connect Vehicles button in the right part of the screen.
-
Under AEMP Assets, click Connect AEMP Assets.
-
Select the manufacturer of the AEMP asset: Komatsu or Volvo. If you want to add a John Deere or Caterpillar asset, see Adding John Deere and Caterpillar AEMP 2.0 Assets.
-
Enter your AEMP credentials and, optionally, a simple free-form tag to the Tag field. If you have previously entered any credentials on this screen, these are also available for you to select from the top drop-down list. Any tags used previously are also shown in the Tag field when an existing set of account credentials is selected. Click Go to see a list of available serial numbers.
Note
A connection with the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) is established when a valid set of AEMP account credentials is entered into My Account in Fleet. If at a later time you want to reset or change your AEMP password or username, you must contact the OEM directly.
It is important that you then update the credentials in Fleet under My Account to match your new AEMP username and password otherwise your AEMP assets can't connect.
-
Select the serial numbers of the vehicles or assets you want to use, and then click the Add to Order button in the lower right or upper right corner of the screen.
-
Click Next, accept the terms of service, and then click Next again. The assets are now added to your account.
Note
If you are purchasing assets or vehicles from more than one OEM, you are asked to accept the terms of service from each of these OEMs.
