The Parameters tab of the Asset Types screen lets you name each asset type and specify general settings, such as the way the system determines the status of the asset.
Property |
Description |
---|---|
Name |
The name of the asset type. When editing, the change does not take effect until you click Save. |
Icon |
If the Use default icon option has been selected from the selection box, or if no changes have been made since its creation, the map shows this asset using the default status icon (represented by a black pin icon). If you want to override the default behavior and show an icon that indicates the asset type rather than its status:
|
Color |
The color of the asset type. You can use the map settings to display this color in cluster icons. Use the drop-down to associate a color with the asset type. You must click Save for the change to take effect. |
Status |
Select When ignition is on, status is "working" if you want the asset to always have a status of "working" when the ignition is on. NoteIf this check box is cleared, the asset only has a status of working when the ignition is on, the asset is not moving, anda productive idle is on; the asset has an "idle" status if the ignition is on and the asset is not moving; the asset has a "moving" status when the ignition is on and the asset is moving (even if a productive idle is on). If this check box is selected, the asset always has a "working" status when the ignition is on; the asset never has an "idle" status; the "moving" status only occurs when the ignition is off but the asset is moving. Select Unit only sends signals when the vehicle's ignition is on if the unit installed in assets of this type do not send reports when the ignition (power) is off. When this check box is selected, the No Signal Timeout is ignored when the last report from the unit indicates that the ignition is off. Clear Show unit as idle if ignition is off but unit has moved a large distance if you want to prevent vehicles from being given a status of idle when they move outside the "stopped" distance specified in the vehicle settings page. This is useful for asset types that do not report frequently and which do not move much, as it prevents large GPS drift from producing a spurious idle state. Clear Snap to road if you do not want the asset's position to be fitted to the nearest road in vehicle histories. This is useful for assets that do not travel on existing roads. Clear Allow users to assign drivers to vehicles using this asset type if you do not want drivers to be directly assigned to vehicles using this asset type. You would clear this setting for asset types that are used for trailers, which are special vehicles that are used so that drivers can complete driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) separately for each trailer. |
No Signal Timeout |
Specify the number of minutes that should elapse with no signal from an asset before the asset's status changes to "no signal". Defaults to 1440 minutes (24 hours). |
Reports |
Clear Show in history reports if you do not want assets of this type included in reports about fleets that include the asset. For example, if the asset is hauled by another vehicle in the fleet, you probably do not want to include the asset in a mileage report, because the driving distance is already counted by the vehicle doing the hauling. (You can still see assets of this type in individual reports by reporting at the vehicle level rather than the fleet.) |
Equipment Configuration |
Select this check box to configure the unit as an "equipment" asset type. That is, machinery that does not typically have an assigned driver (for example, a crane or a generator). When enabled, the status of the equipment can be only "Reporting" or "No Signal". A driver is not shown for the unit on the Vehicle Details pop-up over the map, and the equipment is not shown in histories. These changes are also reflected in generated reports. |
