The Verizon Connect Cat-M1 Enterprise Asset Tracker is a small, battery-powered cellular device that can be physically attached to any of your organization’s assets whose locations can change. The asset tracker allows you to monitor data associated with the asset, such as temperature, acceleration events, and location. The data is sent in a report via the cellular network at set intervals or when an event, such as acceleration or an increase in humidity, occurs.
Asset trackers can now be assigned an install type that determines how often, or under what circumstances, the device sends a report to your organization. This can help increase the battery life of the asset trackers. You can create any number of install types for the Verizon Cat-M1 Asset Tracker.

To see examples of use cases, and a description of the asset tracker parameters, see the Use Cases for Cat-M1 Asset Trackers Knowledge Base article. If you intend to use your Cat-M1 device to detect movement, the firmware on your device may need to be updated. Contact your Verizon Connect representative for more information.
The Use Cases article describes configuration details for the following use cases:
This configuration is designed to send a weekly "keep alive" report and to also report whenever the tracker detects movement. You would use this configuration for assets that are usually very static (perhaps a summer or winter layover), and if you require a report when the asset is moved (for security reasons, for example). This configuration uses the least amount of battery power. When the asset is moving, it reports its location every 15 minutes.
This configuration sends a location report every 24 hours and does not include any sensor information. This helps to maximize battery life.
This configuration is similar to the 24 Hour Report and adds extra reporting when the device detects movement. The device reports every two minutes while the tracker detects movement.
This configuration sends a location report every 6 hours and includes sensor information that is recorded every 15 minutes.
This configuration sends a location report every hour. This configuration uses the most battery power of all of these example configurations.
