This quick start dashboard is only available in accounts with an Assets subscription.

The Equipment Utilization dashboard displays engine hours and fuel used by individual assets (typically vehicles) in your fleet, and is used to assess asset utilization. This dashboard is useful for tracking the efficiency of heavy vehicles that might not move location frequently, and that remain in the same work site while operating, such as cranes and earth movers. These types of assets are often configured to report less frequently as a result of this usage behavior. The graphs shown on this dashboard are:

  • Fleet Count: The number of vehicles within your fleet. That is, the number of assets within the selected sub-fleet that match the asset type selected in the Asset Filter, and within the time range selected.

  • Utilized Fleet Count: The number of vehicles within your fleet that were used. That is, the number of vehicles within the selected sub-fleet that match the asset type selected in the Asset Filter, and that recorded an engine hours value greater than five minutes or a distance traveled value greater than 1000 meters, within the time range selected.

  • Engine Hours: The total number of engine hours reported across a selected sub-fleet and asset type for a given day. This is the number of hours that the vehicle ignition is set to "on", and includes both idle hours and moving hours.

  • Fuel Used: The total quantity of fuel used by the vehicles in your fleet for a given day. That is, the number of liters or gallons of fuel used within the selected sub-fleet, by vehicles that match the asset type selected in the Asset Filter and within the time range selected.

  • Fuel Used Per Hour: The averaged fuel use per hour on a given day by assets within the selected sub-fleet that match the asset type selected in the Asset Filter and within the time range selected. This figure is determined by dividing the "Fuel Used" value by the "Engine Hours" value.

  1. The title of each trend graph indicates which fleet utilization indicator or indicators it shows. You can choose a different indicator from the drop-down list. The graph is updated automatically.

  2. Recorded values are represented by blue dots on the line graphs. Hover over a dot to view a tooltip that displays the values recorded for the date or time.

  3. The Asset Type, Fleet Filter, and Date Filter indicate which sub-fleet is represented by each graph or table, the asset type they describe, and the date range of the graphed or tabulated data. Click a control to adjust the fleet, asset type, or date range graphed.

  4. Click Print dash_print_button.png to print all visible charts. Each chart is printed on a separate page. If you have selected the table view for a chart, the table is printed instead of the chart.

  5. Click the up arrow dash_expand.png to expand the graph to full-screen, or the down arrow dash_shrink.png to restore the graph to its original size.

  6. Click Table dash_text_button.png to toggle the chart between chart and table views. The table view is useful if you need to copy data into a text editor or quickly view the raw data presented in a chart.

  7. Click Export dash_export_button.png to export the chart as an .xslx format (Microsoft Excel) spreadsheet file.

  8. The table located below the graphs displays the summed total fleet count, utilized fleet count, total engine hours, total fuel used, and fuel used per hour over the total period and for the selected fleets and asset types graphed above it.

Filtering the Fleet Utilization Dashboard

To specify the sub-fleets to include in the graph, or the date range of the data displayed, use the Asset Filter, Fleet Filter, or Date Filter located in the upper right corner of the screen:

  1. Asset Filter: Click to open the Asset Filter, then select the asset type to include in the graph. To select all asset types, select "All Asset Types" from the drop-down menu. Click Apply to update the graphs and table.

  2. Fleet Filter: Click to open the Fleet Filter, then select the sub-fleet, team, or driver to include in the graph. Continue to select fleets to further narrow the target of the dashboard report. When you have selected an appropriate level to filter on, the dashboard graphs and table update automatically.

  3. Date Filter: Click to open the Date Filter, then select the date range to show in the dashboard graphs:

    Pre-defined filter ranges include:

    • Yesterday

    • Last 7 Days

    • Last 30 Days

    • This Month

    • Last Month

    • This Quarter

    • Last Quarter

    • Year To Date

    • Custom Range

    As you hover over each option the corresponding dates are displayed in the From and To fields.

    If you choose Custom Range, a calendar control opens. Use this to select the start and end dates of your custom date range. Click Apply to update the dashboard graphs.
