When you are informed of InSight Alerts™ that you do not think should be there, or when you think there should be an InSight Alert and none appeared, you can check the following:
If you see InSight Alerts that you think should not have been triggered, you can check the following:
-
Is the alert aggressive? Sometimes aggressive alerts can generate false positives because a report was delayed or the time between reports was longer than the minimum time to trigger the alert. You can identify this situation because the time the alert turns off is before or the same as the time the alert triggers. For an example of how this can occur, see How InSight Alerts work.
-
Does the alert show stops that you do not think occurred? Check the vehicle settings to see how the system determines that a vehicle has stopped.
-
From the Tasks section of the navigation bar choose Hardware Check to run a hardware check. Select the unit that generated the unexpected alert and set the days to cover the time period when the alert was generated. The Hardware Check screen shows what information the vehicle sent in its regular reports. Check to see if a report from the vehicle indicates that the condition for generating the alert was met. For details on the precise conditions that generate an alert, look at the details for the alert type under Types of InSight Alerts.
If you do not see an alert in your InSight Alerts inbox when you expect one to have occurred, you can check the following:
-
Check the schedule for the alert. Was the alert enabled at the time you expected to see it?
-
Did you expect an alert for a stop that did not appear? Check the vehicle settings to see how the system determines that a vehicle has stopped.

Check to see if the GPS quality was poor (1 or 0) or at the time you expected the alert to occur. Many alerts do not occur if the GPS quality is poor.
