Our mobile apps require phones or tablets running a supported version of the iOS or Android operating system.
We recommend that you purchase new devices regularly. Doing so ensures that they are equipped with more recent OS versions.
In addition, devices running our mobile apps must:
-
Be capable of making a cellular internet connection.
-
Be Wi-Fi-equipped (when using HOS with WorkPlan).
-
Include Bluetooth low energy (BLE) support (when using HOS with WorkPlan).
-
Include GPS support.
Click the following links to see which iOS and Android operating system versions are required when running our mobile apps.
Verizon Connect requires that a minimum of 4GB of RAM be installed on devices running its enterprise mobile apps (WorkPlan and Workforce). We also strongly recommend 6GB or more of RAM if you are using more than one enterprise app on the same device. If you choose to use devices with only 4GB of RAM, consider the following:
-
Users will typically have a significantly improved user experience when using higher specification mobile devices (that is, devices with more RAM and faster CPUs).
-
More than 4GB of RAM might be required to provide a satisfactory user experience. This will vary based on actual device usage, and on the behavior of any other applications also installed on your device.
-
6GB or more of RAM is recommended to ensure a longer service life for your devices.
If you are using both an enterprise application (WorkPlan or Workforce) and Navigation, or using another application that requires high resource usage, we recommend a minimum of 6GB RAM.
The following operating system services and permissions must be enabled:
-
Device location services
-
Camera (required for WorkPlan if using Forms or DVIR)
-
Storage (required for WorkPlan if using Forms or DVIR)
It is important that customers using Verizon Connect enterprise apps on Android devices disable Battery Optimization. Instructions for turning off Battery Optimization on a device can be found here. This is a representative guide and applicable to several different versions of the Android operating system. However, your device provider or operating system might require different steps to disable this feature.
Note
This feature needs to be checked and disabled regularly, particularly following a software update. Many manufacturers, including Samsung, automatically enable Battery Optimization following any major update.
The following device settings are recommended. Incorrect configuration of these settings on your device can cause our mobile apps to malfunction.
-
Power save mode should be off.
-
Background activities should be permitted.
You can still use devices that do not meet the recommendations outlined above. However, if you do, you might be unable to:
-
Receive Verizon Connect mobile application updates.
-
Run multiple Verizon Connect mobile applications at once.
-
Use certain features or, if they can be used, experience degraded feature performance.
-
Receive troubleshooting support.
