Before attaching the camera to the windshield, you need to choose the most appropriate location. You want a clear view of the driver and the cab and a clear and unobstructed view of the road ahead.
We recommend that you place the driver camera within the highlighted area in the image. This is called the obscuration band and is the dark and often dotted area near the edge of the windshield.
If you are unable to place the camera in the recommended position, consider the following:
-
Place the camera as close as possible to the center of the windshield.
-
Do not place the camera where something can block its field of view - for example, do not place it behind the rear-view mirror or where it can be obstructed by the driver-side visor.
-
Do not obstruct the driver's view of the road ahead.
-
Avoid placing the camera near the vehicle's climate control system, as extreme temperatures can interfere with the camera operation.
