To use Verizon Connect® Response™, you must have a territory selected as the current fleet in the map. Use the button in the upper right of the Map screen toolbar to select a territory. Once you have selected a territory, the map shows Dynamic Response Suite data such as current job locations and the Response list views can be populated with data from that territory.
Note
A territory is visible and selectable from the territory menu () only if at least one job has been assigned to the territory, or if at least one vehicle has been based at an HQ marker within that territory. In other words, if a marker with a primary category of 'HQ' has been configured within the territory, and the 'Base Marker' parameter (available from the Overview tab of the Edit Vehicle dialog box) of at least one vehicle set to that HQ marker. The bases that are assigned to vehicles can also be configured using the Hierarchy interface (Tasks > Hierarchy).
The list of territories contains only those territories that you have permission to access. If Territory Permissions is set to “Restricted Access” under Properties, only those users who are added to the Permissions tab can see particular territories in the territory menu.
Each territory is a collection of:
-
Customers: Markers in the Customer category where a job is scheduled. A territory can be applied to a customer marker using the markers list, or, when you create a new job, a customer marker can be automatically created in the territory for the job.
-
Depots: Markers in the HQ category that is the home base for a set of jobs. A territory can be applied to depots using the markers list.
-
Drivers: Drivers are the field agents that perform jobs in a territory. They are assigned to a territory when you assign them a base marker that is a depot in the territory. Use the Driver Details dialog box to assign a base marker for a driver, or, if you have the hierarchy, use the Set base dialog box.
-
Vehicles: Vehicles are how your field agents drive to jobs, and how the Job Monitor tracks their progress. They are assigned to a territory when you assign them a base marker that is one of the depots in the territory. Use the Vehicle Details dialog box to assign a base marker to a vehicle, or, if you have the hierarchy, use the Set base dialog box.
Unassigned jobs belong to the territory of the corresponding customer marker. When you dispatch a job to a driver, the job is assigned to the territory of the driver's base depot.
When you define jobs using the Add Job dialog box, the job is not assigned to a territory until you dispatch the job to a driver. The job is then assigned to the territory that contains the driver's base depot.
Note
For a job to be included in a territory, the driver must be based at a depot in the territory. If the driver is assigned to a vehicle, the vehicle must also be based at a depot in the territory. Note that both the driver and the vehicle must be based at the same depot.
The route reports that track the performance of your drivers in servicing jobs are always based on the territory that includes the jobs.
To set up your territories, display the territories screen, which is in the Jobs & Routes section of the navigation bar:
1: |
Click Create to create a new territory. To be able to save the new territory, you must define a name on the Properties tab. Only admin users can create territories. |
2: |
Click Delete to delete the currently selected territory. NoteYou must have administrator rights to delete a territory. Once a territory is deleted, jobs and routes associated with the territory are removed from Fleet, and markers associated with the territory can be edited from the Markers screen only. Before deleting a territory, we recommend you disassociate the territory from its markers and delete future routes. Jobs and routes remaining on the territory will not be accessible via the UI after the territory has been deleted. See the following help center articles for guidance:
|
3: |
If the list of territories is long, use the filter text box to filter the list of territories. When you type in this box, the list is automatically filtered to show only territories that include all or part of this string in their names |
4: |
Use the Properties tab to define a name and time zone, and whether to use the new Verizon Connect® Response™. |
5: |
Use the Routing Settings tab to define settings such as fuel consumption and cost, depot time on site, and routing behavior. |
6: |
Use the Driver Shifts tab to define driver shifts, breaks, and pay. |
7: |
Use the Permissions tab to define which users have access to this territory if the territory has Territory Permissions set to “Restricted Access” on the Properties tab. Only admin users can see the Permissions tab. See Add users who have territory permissions. |
8: |
Click the Save button to save any changes you make to the properties of the currently selected territory. |
The Properties tab lets you configure the following settings:
-
Name: Enter the name of the territory.
-
Time Zone: Select the time zone that the territory is in.
-
Territory Permissions: (Applicable to admin users only) Choose between “All Users” and “Restricted Access” to determine whether all users or only those that are listed on the Permissions tab are allowed to view and edit this territory. Scenarios, markers, routes, and jobs located in the territory are also restricted to users who are not listed on the Permissions tab. For more information, see Add users who have access to a territory and Impact of Territory Permissions.
Use the Routing Settings tab to define the following routing settings for your new territory:
-
Actual speed percentage: The average percentage of the actual posted speed limit at which vehicles in the territory usually travel. If your vehicles typically travel at the speed limit, for example on freeways with low to moderate traffic, choose 100. If they frequently travel through heavy or slow traffic, choose a lower figure to account for slightly longer driving times. Drivers may not travel above the posted speed limit, therefore you cannot select values above 100.
-
Diesel cost: The diesel cost per gallon or liter (depending on your account settings) in the territory. This information is used to estimate the cost of routes if your vehicles run on diesel fuel.
-
Diesel consumption: The average diesel fuel consumption of vehicles in the territory. This information is used to estimate the cost of routes if your vehicles run on diesel fuel.
-
Gas cost: The gas cost per gallon or liter (depending on your account settings) in the territory. This information is used to estimate the cost of routes if your vehicles run on gasoline.
-
Gas consumption: The average gas consumption of vehicles in the territory. This information is used to estimate the cost of routes if your vehicles run on gasoline.
-
Depot Time On Site
-
Start Depot: The time that vehicles in the territory typically spend at the start depot at the beginning of a route. This time is for loading goods and other tasks required at the start of a route.
-
End Depot: The time that vehicles in the territory typically spend at the end depot at the end of a route. This time is for unloading goods and other tasks required at the end of a route.
-
Mid-Route Return to Depot Strategy: The strategy to use in situations where vehicles in the territory do not have enough capacity to carry the appropriate load that is required at a stop along a route. If this setting is disabled, vehicles with insufficient capacity will not service jobs with higher load requirements. If you select "Return to start depot" or "Use nearest depot", both settings allow for your vehicles to be automatically routed back to the appropriate depots for reloading when they do not have sufficient product capacity aboard. "Return to start depot" uses the start depot for reloading and "Use nearest depot" uses the depot that is located nearest to where the vehicles are when they need to return to a depot.
-
-
Routing Objectives
-
Minimize Drivers: Reduces the number of drivers used to service routes as much as is possible.
-
Front Loading: Prefer to service jobs on earlier dates and times where possible.
-
Balance Workload: Prefer to assign a similar number of stops to each available route over minimizing the number of drivers or servicing jobs as early as possible.
-
-
Hard Constraints
-
Time Windows: Select this box to stop time windows from being violated when building routes in this territory. Hard constraints are constraints that can never be violated and that, when triggered, prevent the route from building.
-
Maximum Working Time: Select this box to stop maximum working time (the maximum total time of the route) from being exceeded when building routes in this territory. Hard constraints are constraints that can never be violated and that, when triggered, prevent the route from building.
-
-
Routing Behavior
-
Same-side routing: Whether vehicles in the territory must approach stops on the same side of the road as the entrance to the stop destination.
-
Historic Traffic: Whether to use historic data when generating routes. This leads to routes avoiding high traffic areas during rush-hour times.
-
-
Vehicle Settings
-
Vehicle type: Describes the vehicle type classification; for example, taxi, emergency vehicle, or truck. This information is used to determine the roadways that vehicles are permitted to use. When set to "Inherit", the vehicle settings are inherited from those specified on the Routing Defaults tab of the main Settings dialog box. If set to "Automobile", all other vehicle settings are disabled.
