3G networks in Australia have provided a good balance of coverage, performance and cost effectiveness for GPS tracking applications for many years. However, all three 3G network providers have announced plans to retire their 3G services by June 2024 to focus instead on newer 4G and 5G network technologies.
Some of the tracking devices currently installed in vehicles and assets in Australia support only 3G networks. These will need to be upgraded to newer hardware before June 2024 in order to continue communicating with our servers.
There’s no need to do anything right now. We will be contacting affected customers in 2023 to arrange upgrades that will deliver faster communication speeds, increased plotting frequency and improved coverage.
